This piece connects so many dots between AI alignment discourse and historical power structures. The parallel between RLHF as catechism and medieval priesthood controlling scripture translation is spot-on. Working in ML, I've seen how aligning models often means imposing one narrow cultural frame on what's supposed to be universal intelligence, and thatgap between the claim and reality rarely gets discussed openly.
